Later, he went on to become an editor of San Diego Home\/Garden Magazine and the founder of North Park News, a community monthly devoted to San Diego&#8217;s most historic neighborhood. Alongside his journalism, Shess writes fictional works that blend the grit of noir with the tenderness of modern romance. His first novel &#8220;Cantina Psalms&#8221; maps the hidden corners of San Francisco through mystery and desire, while his new short story collection &#8220;Tough Love: Modern Noir Romances&#8221; explores the fragile line between passion and consequence.
